Our mission
Make it simple, affordable, and low-stress to book a real Texas fishing or hunting guide, with honest pricing, real communication, and support from people who actually know this coast and these woods, not a call center on the other side of the world.
Who we are
We're Matthew and Shelly Bettinger. We've both grown up around the water our whole lives. Matthew got his start fishing out of Corpus Christi, and these days we live up the coast in Pearland. Between us we've fished all along the Texas coast, up in New England, down in Florida, and a fair bit abroad. Neither of us is a guide. We're anglers first, and this site is what happens when a couple of people who love being on the water get frustrated enough with how hard it is to book a trip that they decide to just build something better.
Why we built this
Booking a guide before the internet meant working the phones: calling around, leaving messages, hoping someone called you back before the good dates were gone. The internet was supposed to fix that. Instead it added a new headache: a handful of big "booker" sites, often run by a whole team overseas with no real feel for Texas water or Texas seasons, taking a big cut and leaving both the angler and the guide with less.
We wanted something different: a site actually made in Texas, for Texas, that keeps bookings affordable for locals and visitors alike, covers hunting as well as fishing, and doesn't need a call center on the other side of the world to answer a question. Just people who know this coast and these woods, trying to fill the gaps the bigger sites leave behind.
What we're trying to do
- Keep booking a guide low-stress, with real communication from start to finish.
- Keep it cost-effective, for the angler or hunter booking and for the guide getting paid.
- Stay reachable. If something's wrong, you can actually get a hold of us.
- Cover all of it: inshore, offshore, surf, freshwater, and whitetail, turkey, waterfowl, and hog hunts, all across Texas.
We can't promise the fish will bite or that you'll get a shot. Nobody honest can. What we can promise is that whichever guide or outfitter you book through fishtexasnow or hunttexasnow, you're in for a real Texas adventure and the kind of day worth remembering.
