Privacy Policy
Draft — not yet in effect
This Privacy Policy is provided by Lone Star Outdoor Marketplace LLC ("we," "us," "the Company") and describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use fishtexasnow.com and hunttexasnow.com (together, the "Site"). It should be read alongside our Terms of Service.
1. Who we are
fishtexasnow.com and hunttexasnow.com are operated by Lone Star Outdoor Marketplace LLC, a Texas limited liability company. We operate a marketplace connecting anglers and hunters ("Customers") with independent fishing guides and hunting outfitters ("Guides"). This policy covers information collected through the Site itself — not information a Guide or Customer might separately exchange with each other outside the Site.
2. Information we collect
Account information. Name, email address, phone number, and a password (we store only a salted hash of your password, never the password itself). Guides additionally provide a bio, years of experience, licensing details (e.g. USCG licensure), home port, and up to 6 profile photos.
Booking information. Trip date, number of anglers/hunters, and the price breakdown for any booking you make or receive. Guest bookings (made without an account) collect the same booker name, email, and phone.
Payment information. We do not collect or store your full card number or bank account details ourselves — payment is processed entirely by Stripe, and we only receive a payment confirmation reference and the amount paid. See §4 for what Stripe does with payment data.
Messages, reviews & inquiries. Messages you send another user about a booking, reviews you leave after a completed trip, and pre-booking questions submitted from a trip page (name, email, phone, and your question).
Contact form. Name, email, an optional topic, and your message, if you contact us directly.
Uploaded images. Trip photos, guide profile photos, and sponsor-placement banners that a Guide uploads.
3. How we use it
We use the information above to:
- Create and maintain your account, and let Guides and Customers find and book each other's trips
- Process payments and payouts, and compute the platform commission described in our FAQ
- Send transactional email — booking confirmations, cancellations, reschedules, new-message and new-review notices, and replies to inquiries or contact-form messages
- Show guide profiles, trip listings, reviews, and sponsor placements on the Site
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and automated bot signups (see §5)
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
6. Data retention
We keep booking, payment, and review records indefinitely once a booking is confirmed, since they form the transaction and audit trail for that booking (including for any later dispute, refund, or tax purpose). Account information is kept for as long as your account exists. Contact-form and inquiry messages not tied to an account are kept only as long as needed to answer them.
7. Security
Passwords are stored as salted hashes, never in plain text. The Site is served over HTTPS. Uploaded photos and profile data are stored with access limited to what the Site itself needs to display them. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices
You can review and update your account information at any time while signed in. To request a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account, use our contact form. We may need to keep booking/payment records described in §6 even after an account is deleted, for the audit-trail reasons described there.
9. Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to children, and you must be at least 18 to create an account, per our Terms of Service. A minor may only be booked on a trip by, and accompanied by, a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
11. Contact us
Questions about this policy, or requests about your information, can be sent to our contact form.
